This conference is held under the auspices of International Organization for Science and Technology Education (IOSTE) as a two European regions symposium: Central and Eastern Europe (coordinator: Prof. Katarzyna POTYRALA) and Southern Europe (coordinator: Prof. Pierre CLEMENT). It is linked to the 8th International Conference ‘Science-Society-Didactics’( SSD).

About Cimeos laboratory

Cimeos (EA 4177) is a laboratory specialized in Information and Communication Sciences at the University of Burgundy, in Dijon (France). It was set up in 2005 and includes about 22 scholars, 15 associates and 33 PhD students.

This research unit explores 4 themes : Food and Gastronomy ; Health and Care ; Knowledge, Cultures and Innovation ; Socio-ecological Transition, Public Spaces and Territories.

The methodologies which are commonly used belong to the Human and Social Sciences, namely comprehensive sociology, netnography (Kozinets), linguistics and cultural history, etc. They give rise to research procedures leading to wide-scope investigations about communicational issues.

About Pedagogical University of Cracow

For over 70 years the Pedagogical University of Cracow has taken the lead among pedagogical higher education institutions in Poland, and it is also the oldest Pedagogical University in Poland. It is exceptional because of its high prestige, professional education and modernity.

About ICBE

The Interdisciplinary Center of Educational Research (ICBE) has been operating since 2013 within the organizational structure of the Pedagogical Faculty of the Pedagogical University in Krakow.

Defining the ICBE mission it was assumed that the quality of education and upbringing of subsequent generations of Poles in a dynamically changing cultural and civilizational environment depends on the research potential of pedagogical universities, dissemination of research results and implementing them into everyday work of schools and educational institutions. As an academic and interdisciplinary research unit ICBE supports principals and teachers in the implementation of a shared vision of the Polish modern school – open to change, addressing the challenges of modern times. The Center’s initiatives serve as a platform for discussions and agreements on matters of key importance for Polish education.

Aims of ICBE:

  • initiating at a university and coordinating intercollegiate interdisciplinary research on education in a changing cultural and civilizational environment,
  • cooperation with other universities and research centres in Poland and abroad,
  • conducting seminars and organizing scientific conferences in cooperation with Polish and foreign scientists,
  • cooperation with school supervisors, teacher training centres, schools and educational institutions,
  • trainings and courses for people managing education, teachers, PhD students and students,
  • initiating public debates on the education system in Poland, level and the quality of education, upbringing, the canon of knowledge and culture,
  • preparation of expert proposals for changes in the education system and upbringing in Poland.
